Shot blasting – professional surface cleaning and finishing

Shotblasting is a modern surface treatment method that allows cleaning, smoothing and preparing metal surfaces for further technological processes. GOMET offers shotblasting services as a complement to a wide range of metal treatment procedures.

What is shot blasting and how does it work?

Shotblasting is the process of mechanically cleaning a surface by hitting it with fine shot particles under high pressure. The kinetic energy of the shot removes contaminants, rust, scale and other undesirable layers from the metal surface.

Depending on the type of blasting material and the process parameters, a variety of effects can be achieved — from gentle cleaning to deep surface texturing.

Types of shot used in GOMET

We use different types of blasting materials depending on your needs:

Steel shot

– effective removal of rust and scale
– preparing the surface for painting
– making the surface appropriately rough

Stainless steel shot

– processing of stainless steel components
– no risk of iron contamination
– ideal for applications requiring cleanliness

Glass balls

– gentle cleaning of sensitive surfaces
– matting of surfaces
– removal of machining marks

Blasting applications in practice

GOMET’s blasting services are widely used:

Preparation for painting – ideal preparation of the surface for the application of paint coatings, increasing their adhesion and durability;
Removal of rust and scale – effective cleaning of steel products from corrosion deposits and those formed by oxidation taking place during heat treatment;
Aesthetic finish – giving surfaces an even, matte texture with a distinctive appearance;
Preparation for welding – cleaning of welding areas to ensure high quality welded joints;
