Machining – why use the services of GOMET?

One of the most popular and widely used methods of processing various metals is undoubtedly machining. It is widely used in many industries, and it is also offered by GOMET from Radom, a company whose services are definitely worth using.

What is machining?

Current machining methods bear little resemblance to those used a dozen years ago. Virtually no manual methods are used for this anymore, and in common use are modern CNC machine tools, digitally controlled machines such as:

CNC lathe machines;
CNC lathes;
CNC milling machines;
modern machinery;
qualified staff.

They provide extremely high precision work, although the very principle of this technique has remained the same. It is a technological process of removing material from a piece of metal to be machined in order to give it a shape according to the design and accurately finish its surface.

What metalworking methods does GOMET offer?

GOMET has specialized in metal machining for many years, with tremendous knowledge and experience in this field. As a result, we are pleased to offer a large selection of precision-made components, gas accessories, such as LPG refueling passages.

In the process of producing them, we use several proven methods that ensure high precision and consistency, required especially for mass production. The breakdown of the processing technologies used varies depending on the type of machine to be used, and in this case is as follows:

Cutting

Cutting is one of the techniques used to process metal and other materials. The use of precision cutting tools makes it possible to cut the most complex shapes. This provides much higher quality than traditional manual cutting methods.

Milling

In this machining process, we use numerically controlled milling machines equipped with rotating cutting tools called cutters. The process itself consists of what is known as chip machining, shearing layers of material until the workpiece achieves the desired shape. Everything is controlled by a computer based on a previously entered program.

Turning

Another machining method offered by GOMET, which uses modern lathes controlled by computer instead of by hand. A rotating and sliding piece of metal, fixed in the machine’s chuck, is machined by stationary cutting blades allowing to obtain cylindrical, spherical or conical shapes of the workpiece.

Grinding

A method of precision finishing to achieve a perfectly smooth texture of the machined surfaces. Different thicknesses of grinding discs controlled by a computer system are used for this, allowing, among other things, flat, external, internal, circumferential or centerless grinding.

How does the machining process work?

The machining process consists of several consecutive steps, allowing us to obtain exactly the metal parts our customers need:

Stage 1 – design the shape of the metal part using CAD software, and if replicating an existing part, we laser scan it to get an accurate 3D model;
Stage 2 – preparing the material and fixing it in the processing machine;
Step 3 – appropriate setting of such parameters as feed rate, speed and depth of cut;
Stage 4 – the start of material removal by appropriately selected cutting tools, until the desired shape is obtained, and this process is also divided into several stages:
– coarse machining that removes larger amounts of material;
– medium-precision machining, allowing to obtain the shape of the workpiece;
– fine machining, giving it the final shape;
– finishing machining, allowing to finish the surface according to the requirements of the project;
Stage 5 – quality control, checking the dimensions, accuracy of obtaining the shape and quality of the final product.

Which advantages of machining are worth highlighting?

Numerous customers who use the machining services we offer them emphasize the advantages it brings, primarily such as:

Repeatability of the process and high productivity, the use of CNC numerically controlled machines allows to produce large quantities of identical parts in a short time;
High accuracy and precision machining, achieving dimensional accuracy of up to thousandths of a millimeter;
excellent surface finish quality of metal objects, which positively affects their subsequent use, eliminating, for example, high friction forces;
Rational use of materials, minimize the amount of waste generated that can pollute the environment;
The possibility of machining different types of metal, aluminum, copper, steel, or titanium, as well as other materials;
creation of parts with complex geometry, complicated shapes impossible to achieve in manual processing;
production of components that are used in many industries, construction, electronics, furniture or automotive;
The speed of modern machine tools while minimizing the risk of errors;
The possibility of unit and mass production of metal components;
Work safety resulting from the fact that machine tools are not operated manually.
